Job Summary

The Pharmacy Assistant supports the pharmacist in preparing and dispensing medications, managing inventory, and providing excellent customer service. This role ensures efficient pharmacy operations while maintaining accuracy and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
Assist the pharmacist in preparing and dispensing medications
Receive and process prescriptions accurately
Label medications and ensure proper packaging
Provide basic information to customers (under pharmacist supervision)
Handle customer inquiries and direct complex questions to the pharmacist
Operate the cash register and process payments
Maintain patient profiles and update records in the system
Monitor and manage stock levels, including ordering and restocking medications
Check expiry dates and ensure proper storage of medicines
Keep the pharmacy clean, organized, and compliant with health regulations
Required Skills & Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (pharmacy-related certification is a plus)
Good communication and customer service skills
Basic computer and data entry skills
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Basic understanding of medications and pharmacy procedures (preferred)
Work Environment
Retail pharmacies, hospitals, or clinics
May require standing for long hours
Shift work, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Preferred Experience
Previous experience in a pharmacy or healthcare setting
Familiarity with pharmacy software systems
Knowledge of inventory management
