Kitchen Helper

A Kitchen Helper assists chefs and cooks by performing basic food prep, cleaning, and organizing tasks to keep the kitchen running smoothly.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

1. Food Preparation

Wash, peel, and cut vegetables and fruits
Prepare basic ingredients (e.g., chopping onions, marinating)
Assist cooks in simple cooking tasks

2. Cleaning & Sanitation

Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment
Clean floors, counters, and kitchen surfaces
Ensure hygiene standards are maintained

3. Storage & Organization

Store food properly in fridges/freezers
Arrange ingredients and supplies neatly
Check expiry dates and rotate stock

4. Supporting Kitchen Staff

Help chefs during busy hours
Carry supplies and ingredients
Follow instructions from cooks and supervisors
Required Skills
Basic knowledge of kitchen hygiene
Ability to work fast in a busy environment
Teamwork and communication skills
Physical stamina (standing long hours)
Willingness to learn
Qualifications
No formal education usually required
Basic food safety knowledge is a plus
Experience in a kitchen is helpful but not necessary
